Finima Nature Park in the Bonny LGA, Isaac Boro Garden Park and the Zoological Garden (both in the Port Harcourt LGA) are the main parks and gardens in the state.
The main beaches in Rivers State are Finima Beach in the Bonny LGA and Iffoko Beach in the Port Harcourt LGA.
Upper Orashi Forest Reserve
Upper Orashi Forest Reserve is a freshwater swamp forest reserve located in the Ahoada West LGA. Other tourist attractions in the state include: Nigeria's first petroleum refinery at Elesa Elema, the Slave Transit Hall at Akassa, the Ogidi shrine at Nember, the Water Glass Boatyard, the Relics of the Akassa Raid of 1859 in Onne Port and the Isaka Holiday Cruise Island.
National Museum of Colonial History, Port Harcourt
The National Museum of Colonial History in Port Harcourt has various ethnographic collections and a permanent exhibition of the socio-economic treasures of the Niger Delta region.
Rivers State Museum, Port Harcourt
The Rivers State Museum in Port Harcourt houses collections of masks, carvings and other items linked to the various ethnic groups in the state. Others sites include the King Jaja of Opobo and Sunju Peterside historical monuments.
The Owu-Aru-Sun Festival Of The Kalabari Kingdom
The Owu-Aru-Sun Alali festival is celebrated by the Kalabari people of Rivers State. It is held in Buguma City in the Asari-Toru LGA and features masquerade and dance displays.
The Port Harcourt Carnival is held annually in December. It features street parades, boat regattas and night entertainment. The Iria (puberty and marriage ceremony) of the Kalabaris, the fishing festivals in Kaiama and Amassaona, the yam festivals in Ikwerre and Ogba, the burial rites and wrestling ceremonies in Degema and the war canoe displays or boat regattas in Bonny are among the other major cultural activities that take place in the state.
