George Osodi was born in 1974 in Lagos. He is a Nigerian photographer from Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State who studied Business Administration at the Yaba College of Technology in Lagos between 1996 and 1999 before working as a photojournalist for the now defunct Comet Newspaper from 1999 to 2002. He worked for the Associated Press news agency from 2002 to 2008.In 2009 he obtained a Professional National Diploma in Documentary Making from the London Academy of Media, Film and TV.

Osodi has covered many assignments for both local and international organisations, and his photographs have been appeared in many international and local publications such as the New York Times, Time Magazine, the Guardian and Telegraph newspapers, USA Today, the International Herald Tribune, CNN, and the BBC's Focus on Africa Magazine. He has also been commissioned for photo projects by several organisations worldwide and is a member of Panos Pictures UK.

George Osodi has also exhibited his works worldwide at various venues, including Museumslandschaft Hessen Kassel in Germany; the Neue Galerie in New York City, USA; as part of the Martin Marguilies Collection in Miami, USA; at the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Modena in Italy, and the Smithsonian in Washington, DC.

Osodi won first prize at the Fuji African Photojournalist of the Year competition in 2004 in the Features and Portfolio categories in 2004.
