  • Ras Kimono's real name is Ukeleke Elumelu Onwubuya. 
  • He is Nigeria’s Reggae icon.
  • He was once in a group called The Jastix along side Amos McRoy and Majek Fashek.
  • He was a vegetarian and never smoked.
  • Ras Kimono carried his traditional dreadlocks hairstyle for over 30 years.
  • His band, ‘Massive Dread’ became popular after the release of his debut album, ‘Under Pressure’.
  • Ras Kimono was one of the  first Nigerian artistes that could properly infuse Jamaican Patois in his songs.
  • He saw himself as someone on a mission with music as his tool.
  • He won the Nigeria Music Award and Fame Music Award.
  • He was known for his songs, Under Pressure and Rumba-style.
  • In 2009, he became a member of Copyright Organisation of Nigeria.
  • Ras Kimono’s Quote, "With the rate at which our young entertainers are abusing drugs, and alcohol, many of them will be raving mad, in asylums, or rehab in the next 10 years”.
  • He passed away on the June 10th, 2018.
