The holiday season is over and school resumption period is here. For those wondering what to do, we have put together some tips to make life easy for you.
BACK TO SCHOOL TIPS
Develop a Bedtime Routine
Children who do not get enough sleep have difficulty concentrating in class and can lower his or her academic performance. Set a bedtime for your child and let it be consistent
Have your child turn off electronic devices an hour before bedtime and remove any distractions that would prevent them from falling asleep.
The recommended amount of sleep for preschoolers aged 3 – 5 years is 10-13 hours per night while children aged 6-13 years are to sleep for about 9-11 hours per night.
Buy the appropriate gear for your Child
Bear in mind while buying your child’s school things, to buy what he actually needs. There are so many adorable things for children, but make sure to buy the appropriate ones.
Assign real tasks to your child by asking them to clean up after eating and dress themselves. This would make them learn to take care of themselves. Remember that the keyword is independence and not perfection, so acknowledge their efforts.
Try to establish a homework routine that suits your family schedule. Children are generally successful with homework completion shortly after school. The later the homework, the more likelihood your child will demonstrate frustration, lack of motivation and concentration. Be available offer assistance, but never do a child's homework for her.
Set New Term Goals
Review the last term assessment result of your child, note down the areas he or she needs to work on, talk to your child about it and discuss with the class teacher and the lesson teacher if any.
Remember to take your son to the barbers shop and daughter to the hair salon. Check if your child has outgrown her school clothes, buy a new one or mend the old one. Check the scandals, socks and everything the child would need for school and make sure they are appropriate.
In all, endeavour to have fun with your family, go site seeing, swimming and others with your children. This would make them have fun, learn and keep your family bond.
