The Book of Love - A Poem

By Madamidola Oladele on 11 Aug, 2015

  This week on ZODML Poetry Corner, Madamidola Oladele shares a poem on the many faces of love.

Has your heart ever been broken?

Has your love ever been mistaken?

The book of love is full of mysteries

This subtle weapon crumbles ministries.

Does your heart ever pant?

When love is uprooted like a plant;

The book of love is long and lonely

You have a crowd and yet still lonely.

The book of love is long and senseless

For all I know it’s never flawless;

The book of love has names and numbers

Love stays in touch with all its members.

The book of love is full of words

Not matched with actions even by lords;

The book of love is clean and dirty

While some drink others are thirsty.

The book of love is like a game

While some lose others make fame;

The book of love is plain and empty

Many write but few are lofty.

When love is tamed then it’s fake

Just anyone could have a take:

Love is modern, love is crude

It’s your making – bad or good.

The book of love is torn to pieces

By Dick and Harry and even princes;

The book of love is meant for all

Some rise in it while others fall.
