Dialogue Mistakes You Should Avoid

Writing a good dialogue may not be as easy as you think. Here are some common dialogue mistakes you should avoid.

Exposition Dialogue

This happens when a character explains the whole story in dialogue. It is a terrible way of telling a story in drama. You should weave the information into the story line through different dialogues.

Dialogue that does not sound natural

Try to make your dialogues sound natural. Find out if it is something someone can say by reading it aloud.

Dialogue without unique characters

Do not give your characters similar voices, make sure they all have separate and unique voices by using different patterns of speech, level of education, class, profession and more.

Dialogue full of unimportant conversations

Do not flood your story with unimportant conversations, this would make it boring. Rather infuse tension, conflict into your story.

Dialogue without an Action

Convey every character movement with action, so that you would not loose your audience.
