The first reading programme for the year was held on the 12th of February, 2016 at the community library, between 26 students from Ilado Community Junior High School, Osborne road and Akande Dahunsi Memorial Junior Secondary School, Osborne road. ‘No place to play’ by Sarah Kovatch was the book discussed and is about a boy named David who loved skateboarding but had no place to skate so he and his friends created their own skate park.

The guest of the day went through the book with the students to check that they read and understood it. One of them summarized the story followed by questions for the students. The guest read his favourite part of the book and told them it was so because that part introduces some new words which they all discussed.

They were shown round the library by the chief librarian and after having the rules of the library explained to them, they  were made members and  allowed to borrow books.

Usually, the students are asked to rewrite the end of the story in their own way. Out of twenty-five stories that were submitted, three stories were selected and the writers awarded prizes. Adeyemi Inioluwa a female student of Akande Dahunsi Memorial Junior High School, Osborne road came 1st, Edet Joy, a female student of Ilado community junior high school, Osborne road came 2nd and Paul Nnabugwu, a male student of Akande Dahunsi Memorial Junior High School came 3rd.

The session ended with a group photograph.
