Theodore Mukoro

Theodore Austin Mukoro, often called Uncle Ted was a veteran actor and an advert guru. He was a broadcaster, wordsmith and humorous humanist.

He became famous through an iconic television program of the 80’s, The Village Headmaster on the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) which is today’s Nigeria Television Authority (NTA).

The Village Headmaster had casts Jab Adu, Justus Esiri, Segun Olushola.

He was one of the pioneer newscasters in Africa, on Western Nigeria Television (WNTV), Ibadan; and also one of the pioneers of radio drama at the Western Nigeria Broadcasting Service (WNBS) and Western Nigeria Television (WNTV).

Mukoro contributed greatly to the development theatre in Nigeria and was relevant till death. He had great copy writing skills and the advertising industry benefited from him as he mentored a lot of people.

Ted nurtured top brands in Nigeria like Bournvita, Star, Guinness, Lux, Harp, Vono, Omo, Scheweppes, Legend, and others.

Mukoro was a founding member of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) and a fellow of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria APCON.

His wife Felicia Mukoro, died in 2010 and he died in March 2018 at the age of 89.
