All cardholders are allowed to use the facilities on the downstairs floor of the Library, including the desktop computers, study desks, and free newspapers. Friends of the Library are entitled to further privileges - details of which can be found here.
Once you have applied for your Library card you will receive a code by email. You must then come in person to the Library with your code and two passport photographs to complete your application. You will be contacted when your Library card is ready to pick up (usually a week after receiving your application and passport photographs). There is a N500 administrative fee for processing a Library card (waived for children and students) payable in person at the Library. Your Library card is valid for one year and can be renewed in person at the Community Library.
Please bring your Library card with you as identification whenever you visit the Library.
Renewing Your Library Card
Library cards can be renewed in person at the Community Library. You will receive an email alert in advance of its expiration date. All of the conditions applicable to new Library cards apply to renewals.
Replacing a Lost or Damaged Library Card
The cost of replacing a lost or damaged Library card is N500. You must report the loss in person at the Community Library and bring a passport photograph for the new card.
Your Library card allows you to visit the Community Library and use its services. However, in order to borrow materials from the Library you need to get a borrower’s ticket. You must apply for a borrower’s ticket in person and you will be required to make a non-refundable deposit of N2000 against the possible loss or damage of any borrowed item. You will also need to provide proof of your address such as a utility bill or sublease/tenancy agreement. You are required to report any change of address as soon as possible.
