5  Ways to become an expert at anything

5  Ways to become an expert at anything

Submitted by admin on 8 February 2022

In current times, a surefire way to improve your career, business or entrepreneurship trajectory is to become an expert in your relevant area. We see companies put out employment ads asking for various years of experience for different job roles. A person’s  years of experience is somewhat equivalent to expertise level but there is something that can be said for giving time and focus to self-learning.  We believe that anyone can become an expert in most fields in under a year and we can show you. Here’s how you can do so:

1.Pick Something that interests you: The process of mastering anything is not an easy task. It’ll get tedious. Now, most people will tell you “with discipline, you’ll scale through” and yes, discipline will get you through the tedium but passion also goes a long way. Nobody wants to invest time into becoming an expert at something if it bores them. Something we notice when people self-learn is that they tend to choose those high earning skills that rake in the big bucks because “with discipline, I’ll scale through” and with the right amount of drive and discipline, they’ll most likely succeed but in our experience, anything can be made profitable once you reach a high enough skill level and you put your unique twist on it.
2.Study the experts: To be an expert in any field, you need to have a high level of applied knowledge. The easiest and most efficient way to gain this kind of knowledge is to learn from those who are already successful in it. Yes, you could learn from any information source but you need to be more strategic with your self-learning. Learning from experts gives you access to the thought processes that led them to the top of their field. From engaging with whatever information they have put out (Books, webinars, tutorials, podcasts, etc)., you’ll gain unique insights into their field and how to succeed in it.
3.Network with the relevant people: Self-learning in a vacuum is counterproductive.. As you learn, you need people to bounce off ideas, learn from, and teach when you reach a higher skill level. Learning from the experts works well enough but we find that it can sometimes be easier to learn from people who possess a comparable skill level as you. Find a forum or a social media group that’s relevant to your field of study, engage with the people in it, share your ideas and watch your mind grow.
4.Practice, Practice, Practice: All the knowledge in the world doesn’t make someone an expert. You need to know how to apply it efficiently to be considered an expert. To reach that high level of application, you need to put whatever you learn into constant practice. It’s like most things in life, the more you do it, the better you get. Constant practice builds your experience, broadens your creativity and shapes your insights in your chosen field. Remember “those who can’t do teach”, we’re pretty sure you don’t just want to be a teacher.
5.Never Stop Learning: Being an expert isn’t a one and done thing. It’s a continuous process. Whatever field you choose to specialize in, the relevant knowledge, tools and skills are always changing and evolving. Once you reach the current peak of expertise, you have to put in work to always upgrade yourself to remain at that point of mastery. The moment you stop learning, that’s the moment you start becoming an amateur.

Thanks to the internet and the virtually unlimited information that can be found on it, you have every necessary resource you could need to increase your expertise in almost any field. Take advantage of it and upgrade yourself. Like we always say,  You are Limitless|
