Book Talk with Ugo Anidi
By Ifunanya O.
On Thursday, May 9th, 2024, the library was buzzing with excitement as we welcomed the delectable Mrs. Ugo Anidi. It was part of our Book Talk program where we host multiple authors during the year.
Mrs. Anidi writes for Cathy students, which she is very passionate about. Mrs. Anidi discussed her book Half Hour Hara with students from Ikoyi Primary School and Jinadu Anglican Primary school.
We had the pleasure of Mrs. Anidi reading out her book to the students. It was an interactive session where the students enjoyed getting to know the author while they shared information about themselves.
After Mrs. Obe, a trustee member, read out the five shortlisted alternate endings, and the participants voted for the best alternate ending to Half Hour Hara. Following this, Mrs. Anidi taught the students how to draw a cartoon. The Primary 3 students relished in this exercise as they were able to express their artistic sides. Prizes were then awarded to all five stories.
As we concluded the event, Mrs. Anidi signed the copy of her book the students were given. There was a brief library tour.
We ended the event by handing out refreshments. It was a successful and interactive Book Talk where the students and the author expressed their creativity and got to know one another.
