The Giant - A Poem by Kingsley Chinedu Nnanweuba
We’ve been patiently waiting under duress, With so much stress that we can’t even rest; Though all seems at ease we know we’re not at peace, We are hopeful someday we’ll have our bag full.
Where is the giant? Many have asked. The giant is neither in the oil wells in the South, Nor in the minerals in the North, It is within men; yea the Giant is within men, Men that work while others talk, Men that toil while others destroy, Men that give while others take, Men that repair while others despair, Men that innovate while others detonate.
The giant is immortal, destined for life eternal, You will come and go but he will remain. Patience is the game, a game of time not of fame, For the giant chose to be tame, don’t think he’s lame, He knows the game else we’ll all be in flame.
Let us not be tensed ‘cos we have sense, We progress though we’re in distress; we excel even in stress, Like a picture I see the future which will feature, When we shall neither be oppressed nor suppressed, Let’s continue to press soon the world will be impressed, With our size we can win the prize, but we have to make the sacrifice
I see progression and no more regression, Everything we desire we’ll acquire, That’s the vision, unity is the mission, The Giant is humble therefore will not stumble, The Giant shall see glory no more gory, Now I say to God be the glory.
