The Gift of Hydra
You are the moment in time, you are
the time on the date, you are the
breath of the party. We are all sunny,
all eventful bystanders. Witnessing,
picking stars from the eyes of the
sky to light the candles of the cake,
& colour the balloons of your new
dawn. We all wish to watch you
walk into today but please, do not
promise us quietness or whisper.
Light up the night sky with the
fireworks of your laughter. To be
grey & hale is the porch light
the hydra left on for you; robots
bend to practise old age from
its rays. Walk in the pride of
fireflies; at the point where
the night thickens the most,
we are all practising the patterns
of your footmarks; the glory of
living not just once in a lifetime.
