"There is no such thing as a child who hates to read, There are only children who have not found the right book." - Frank Serafini

Stories have always been part of who we are. Words put together beautifully and creatively to teach, instruct, praise, and even simply entertain. Books are vital in a child's life for a variety of reasons.

Books broaden a child's imagination: Growing up in the realm of storytelling as a Nigerian kid means hearing stories about the heroic or mischievous exploits of talking animals, the cruelty of stepmothers, and the punishment of misbehaving children. A child is introduced to a new universe of possibilities, people, thoughts, and ideas through books.

Books help a child's vocabulary grow: Reading can help children improve their communication skills. They learn new words and improve their language abilities. Reading to children is one efficient way to accomplish this while also fostering friendship.

Books aid children's emotional development: Children can develop connections through books which also helps them to understand and empathize with others more. Due to the abundance of moral examples they encounter, books can aid children in developing greater compassion for others.

Books prepare children for the real world: There has been a tremendous amount of intentionality in terms of how children's literature is produced, what it contains, and how children of all ages can be included and portrayed in modern-day situations. The evolution of children's literature over the years has been driven by one goal: to effectively prepare children for the various experiences that the world has to offer.

Books are great companions: There is so much to learn, and books can make the process enjoyable.
A vast amount of knowledge is now readily available thanks to a wide range of books with distinct textures, patterns, sizes, and images.

At ZODML, our work is to provide access to resources through which young Nigerians can access information and learning tools to acquire knowledge and thrive in their studies and future careers. Finding the right book for any child will be a wholesome experience thanks to the library's extensive collection of children's literature from throughout the years.
