Africa - A Poem by ‘Tunde Akinmolayan

Submitted by admin on 22 August 2013

Lion of world’s dynasty
Home of cultural diversity
Tribe, religion and ethnicity
Radiating lustrous identity

 Virgin forests of wildlife
Reservoirs of natural treasures
Waters with vast aquatic life
Land mass in grand measures

 Blessed with erudite scholars
But grope in dark ignorance
Broken walls of ivory towers
Breed youths obsessed with decadence

 Abundant mineral oil
Deep in her fertile soil
Citizenry struggle and toil
Languishing in grave turmoil

Scourge of AIDS and poverty
Tyrannical leadership and dishonesty
Western principality
All plague with impunity

 Cuckoo…
Africa, it’s dawn!
Awake from slumber
The world awaits wonder.
