Book Talk with Mrs Ndidi Chiazor-Enenmor: A Father's Pride

On February 27th, 2025, ZODML hosted a poignant and thought-provoking Book Talk session with Mrs Ndidi Chiazor-Enenmor, author of the powerful novel "A Father's Pride". Thirty-four students from Falomo Junior High School and Ireti Junior Secondary School gathered to discuss the book, which tells the heart-wrenching story of Urenna, a young girl who faces unimaginable child abuse after losing her father.

As Mrs Chiazor-Enenmor read her favourite passages from the book, the students listened intently, their faces filled with empathy and concern. The discussion that followed was lively and engaging, with students asking thoughtful questions about the story and its themes. Mrs Chiazor-Enenmor responded with sensitivity and insight, sharing her own experiences and perspectives.

But the session wasn't just about discussing the book – it was also about inspiring the next generation of writers. Mrs Chiazor-Enenmor shared valuable writing tips with the students, emphasizing the importance of reading widely, observing the world around them, and persevering through challenges. Her advice was practical, encouraging, and heartfelt.

One of the highlights of the event was the alternate ending competition, where students had written their own conclusions to the story. Mrs Ayo Obe, a member of ZODML's board of trustees, read out the top five entries, and the students voted for their favourite. The winners were announced, and the proud students received their prizes.

Throughout the event, the students demonstrated remarkable maturity and sensitivity, engaging with the complex themes of the book and sharing their own thoughts and feelings. As Mrs Chiazor-Enenmor signed books for each of them, it was clear that this was more than just a Book Talk session – it was a meaningful connection between author, students, and story.

As the programme came to a close, one thing was certain: the students had been inspired, motivated, and empowered to become the writers, thinkers, and leaders of tomorrow.
